The Ocala Post Sets the Standard for Summary Headline Writing Covering the Inverness Murder Story

Just look at that headline. It's beautiful. I thought I had done a pretty good job abbreviating a page-and-a-half long press release into a paragraph on the Concurrent Facebook post but nope. Here comes the Ocala Post and completely changes the game of how concise someone can be.

My personal favorite part is that it doesn't include anything about the hostage but does include that the deputy only used a single shot. The Post editors think that detail of CCSO marksmanship is more newsworthy than someone being held against their will.

Can't say I agree but I appreciate the Post highlighting our agency's success anyway. Even with the hostage omission, this clearly sets the standard for what a summary headline can be.
