On Sunday, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin wrote an op-ed declaring his opposition to a top Democratic Party priority. What do you think of a politician who breaks ranks with his or her party?

It depends.
If it's "breaking ranks" like Charlie Crist who has been a republican, independent, and democrat then I have no respect for that individual. I view that person as an opportunist, with no moral compass and fluid principles, who is primarily out for themselves.
If it's "breaking ranks" like Joe Manchin, in which the individual places principles over party, then I have the greatest level of respect for that individual. Joe Manchin has stood by his belief in spite of the fact that it may harm his political career.
If we had principled Americans in politics then "breaking ranks" wouldn't even be a thing. Instead we have too many Charlie Crists and way too few Joe Manchins. That's why my official political designation is Non-Party Affiliated. I don't care WHO is right, I care WHAT is right...for America, for our community.
